Family Medical Tree
In Events, Heritage Room on May 13, 2011 at 10:51 amA Family Medical Tree will be presented at the Heritage Room of the Berne Public Library on Thursday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will introduce attendees to the idea of looking at family medical problems as they fill out their family history. The final information will be useful when seeing a doctor or determining health related problems across generations. There is no cost for this program and no reservations are needed. Rose Bryan, of the Adams Public Library system, will be presenting the program, and Heritage Room genealogists will be on hand to help attendees with their family research.
HUGE Library Book Sale
In Events on May 9, 2011 at 11:23 amThe library will be having a large sale of used books, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and other treasures beginning Friday, May 13th during normal library hours and is expected to run through May 20th.
Volunteers who help the library set up for the sale on Thursday, May 12th beginning at 4pm will earn $2 vouchers for each hour volunteered. Vouchers may be used to pay for fines or book sale items.

- Wee Read: Ages 18 – 36 mo. on Tuesdays at 10:00.
- Preschool Story Time: Ages 3 -5 yr. on Tuesdays at 11:00.
- Elementary Summer Reading: Currently in Grades K – 5. Weekly programs on Wednesdays at 12:30.
- Young Adult Summer Reading: Currently in Grades 6 -12. Weekly programs on Monday evenings.
- Adult Summer Reading: Weekly programs on Thursdays.

Colleen Coble to visit library!
In Events on April 22, 2011 at 12:39 pmColleen Coble, author of Anathema, the Mercy Falls series, and many others, will be visiting the Berne Public Library on May 7th at 1pm!
Ms. Coble will be speaking a bit about her path to becoming an author and will answer audience questions.
Please come and support the library – books will be available for purchase, and light refreshments will be served.

Movie Night: Tangled
In Events on April 22, 2011 at 10:43 amJoin us on Thursday, May 5th at 6pm for a showing of Tangled, Disney’s spin on the classic Rapunzel fairy tale. Stars Mandy Moore (The Princess Diaries, A Walk to Remember) and Zachary Levi (Chuck) lend their voices as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, the movie’s leading characters.
This animated movie will be shown in the main floor reading room. Popcorn will be served.
Tangled is rated PG for brief mild violence and lasts about 100 minutes.
Basic German for Genealogy Research
In Events, Heritage Room on April 11, 2011 at 1:53 pmJoin the Heritage Room downstairs for a workshop that will give the basic tools needed to make German genealogy research easier. Angy Moore, library director and German expert, will be speaking at this free workshop at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28th. If you are interested in gaining new research information about the German language and how to apply it to genealogy research, then this workshop is for you. Hope to see you there!
Book Club
In Events, News on April 7, 2011 at 7:16 pmThe Berne Public Library has started a book club that meets on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm. For April, the book club is reading God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater by Indiana author Kurt Vonnegut.
New members are always welcome! You do not need a library card to participate or to get a copy of the book to borrow.
Any questions? Ask at the main circulation desk.
Also ask at the main desk if you have your own book club and would like to learn more about the possibility of getting multiple copies of a book on loan from the library for your members.
